If a person is truly intent on getting something done, he will more than likely get it done. "Where there is a will, there is a way", they say.
This past week, I attended "A Chicago Evening with Leon Despres." Leon is a 100-year old former Alderman from Chicago, who was instrumental in bringing to the public's attention the idea of Landmarks Preservation. Marian, his wife of 75 years, passed away last year. She was a founding member of the Chicago Architecture Foundation. What a dedicated team they must have made! Kenan Haise, a former Chicago Tribune reporter, wrote a book last year entitled, "Chicago Afternoons with Leon: 99 Years Old and Looking Forward."
I was inspired to learn that at times, Leon SINGLEHANDEDLY led city council efforts to preserve important architectural landmarks. I love that he fought for a cause that he believed in. And that he still speaks about his beliefs today.
Makes a person feel even more motivated to pursue his Mission, right?
